Research
Applied cyber R&D for mission environments — governed edge AI, telemetry data fabric, and policy-native compute. Not a lab concept. A working reference implementation, targeting SBIR Phase I/II with DHS S&T, CISA, and FAA AIT.
Program FORGE
Federal Operations Research for Governed Edge AI — the first AI data-center architecture where policy enforcement, inference, and compliance evidence are first-class compute primitives.
Most AI research treats governance as an afterthought bolted onto a finished model. FORGE inverts that: the policy is the compute. Every inference action is evaluated before execution, every decision is signed, and every node operates — or stays dark — without an external dependency.
The question FORGE answers is not "can AI do the mission." It is "can AI do the mission and prove it, on hardware the agency controls, when the network is not there."
What we investigate
Governed Edge AI
On-premises inference where policy enforcement is structural, not advisory — bounded model authority by construction.
Policy-Native Compute
A policy kernel that mediates every action before execution — the pipeline is the policy.
Telemetry Unification
Ingestion and normalization of logs, events, metrics, and assets into one operational intelligence layer.
Compliance Evidence Automation
Signed, append-only governance artifacts that assemble NIST 800-53 / FedRAMP evidence on demand.
Air-Gap AI
Self-contained nodes that run inference and enforcement fully disconnected, then sync intelligence — never raw data.
Mission-Aware Data Fabric
The Intelligent Mission-Aware Data Fabric (IMADF) connecting telemetry, evidence, AI operators, and mission systems.
The R&D roadmap
Node Zero
Self-funded · $80K · 0–6 months. Reference implementation — OPERATIONAL today.
Reference Architecture
SBIR Phase I · $300K · 6–18 months. Formalize the distributed mesh and policy kernel.
Federal Pilot
SBIR Phase II · $2M · 18–42 months. Field a governed edge AI pilot (FAA NCMS-R).
FCEB Scale
Scale to Federal Civilian Executive Branch agencies with continuous evidence and ATO.
Node Zero
The research is not a white paper waiting for a contract. Node Zero runs today: a self-funded reference node proving the architecture in live conditions.
Dual NVIDIA Quadro RTX 8000
NVLink bridge, 96GB unified VRAM.
120B-Parameter Inference
Specialist model mesh — threat correlation, compliance reasoning, telemetry summarization.
Rocky Linux 9
Operational on-premises, air-gap capable, ITAR-compatible.
What we publish
The FORGE R&D white paper is available on request. Technical publications, open-source reference implementations, and benchmark data are being prepared for release as the program progresses.
Frequently asked
What research does Neural Data Fabric do?
Applied cyber R&D across governed edge AI, telemetry data fabric, policy-native compute, and automated compliance evidence. The work spans infrastructure, inference, and governance — not just models.
What is Program FORGE?
Program FORGE (Federal Operations Research for Governed Edge AI) is the flagship R&D effort: the first AI data-center architecture where policy enforcement, inference, and compliance evidence are first-class compute primitives. SBIR Phase I/II targeted, aligned to DHS S&T, CISA, and FAA AIT.
Is the research funded?
Phase 0 (Node Zero) is self-funded and operational. Phases I and II target SBIR awards — Phase I $300K for the reference architecture, Phase II $2M for a federal pilot.
Do you have a reference implementation?
Yes — Node Zero. Dual NVIDIA Quadro RTX 8000 with NVLink, 96GB unified VRAM, 120B-parameter inference, Rocky Linux 9. It is operational today, not a slide deck.
Can we collaborate or license the work?
Yes. Contact us for technical briefings, SBIR / IRAD collaboration, or licensing discussions.
